Awesome animation

Tēnā koutou, tēnā koutou, tēnā koutou katoa! Kia ora Bloggers! How are you? It's Māori language week so in class recently we have been looking at a lot of te reo Māori. It has been very fascinating learning more about the language! The teachers challenged us to create an animation that contains at LEAST 12 kupu (Words) and told a short story. This is me and my friend Tayla's animation.

Did you enjoy it? I hope you learnt something! Make sure to do some research on the language and have a great day!

Perfect Pick-a-Path

Kia ora Bloggers! How are you all today? What have you been getting up over lockdown? Continuing on with our genre studies in literacy we have been looking at the fantasy genre and we got challenged to make a pick-a-path story. My friend and I partnered up to create ours, it took a while but we got there in the end and I'm pretty proud of what we achieved!

Let me know how you did in the comments! Did you die at all? Did you enjoy it? I would also like to say that my friend did all the drawings and I think they look amazing! That's all from me this week, make sure to stay safe in lockdown.

Fantastic Fantasy!

Hey Bloggers! How are you? I hope you have been well and keeping safe in these tough times. Distance learning has been good, we are continuing with our regular timetable. Literacy has been fun, we are focusing on genre studies, and yesterday we started looking at my favorite genre which is fantasy. We were told to chose a film/novel and discuss how the different conventions are shown within that media. I chose one of my favorite book series, Into the Crooked Place. After that, we had to create a character that fit within that universe and discuss what roles they had to play in the storyline. This task was a lot of fun and I really enjoyed it!

The site I used to create the character is here: https://picrew.me/image_maker/1170750
As I said I absolutely loved doing this, if you have any feedback please tell me in the comments! What is your favorite genre of film/novel? Have a great day and remember to stay safe!

Spectacular Spooky Story!

Hi bloggers! Back into lockdown again, hopefully this one doesn't last as long. In literacy at the moment we're studying different movie genres, the first one that we are looking at is horror. I'm not a huge fan of horror films but it's very interesting to delve into the themes and conventions of the genre! Yesterday we were made to write a spooky story. I found this task extremely challenging to say the least.

In order for me to have any interest and motivation while writing this, I had to make it a fantasy story of sorts, and it sort of just went downhill from there. Turns out writing tension is extremely difficult and I have no idea how to make anything seem scary so it just came out as lighthearted. Plus my writing overall isn't great.

I tried. I can say that much. Anyway here's my "Spooky" story:

Please give me feedback in the comments! What's your favorite film genre? Mine is probably fantasy!
Have a great day and remember to stay safe.

Perfect Production

Hey Bloggers! How are you? I know I haven't been active at all on here but I have a reason for that. As you might know, we have recently finished performing the Aladdin production! This was so much fun so I thought I might share some of the photos that we got of the show.

That's all the photos I'm going to be sharing, did any of you get to go to the show? If so then did you enjoy it? I really loved this experience and I will definitely miss the whole experience but I look forward to going back to normal learning (That's a lie). Anyway, thank you for reading, and hopefully, I'll see you soon!

Marvellous Matariki Kites

Kia ora Bloggers! Happy Matariki! How are you? On July 2nd we celebrated the Maori new year, meaning that the days get longer and spring is approaching.

The Matariki star cluster has many, many different stories attached to it around the world. There were two we looked at. One about how Ranginui and Papatuanuku were separated by Tāne Mahuta, and how Tāwhirimatea was so angry he ripped out his eyes and threw thunderbolts to the sky, creating the cluster, and another story about 7 sisters making kites, and them going to the sky. Ururangi’s kite was different from the rest, it was rainbow coloured.

In order to make our kites we mixed these stories to make out our kites. This is mine:

What other stories about Matariki have you heard?

Marvellous Matariki

Kia ora bloggers! How are you? What have you been up to? You might not know this but Matariki is coming up next month and to prepare we have created prints of the Matariki sky. This was my first time trying to create a print and I think I did ok.

When we drew out the constallation we had to make sure we drew it in reverse so that when we printed it, it turned the right way and the constallation made sence. First we had to draw our desgin out on a bit of paper and then we had to draw that out on foam. From there we got to print it on a bit of paper.

Then we had to make a frame. I'm absoulute trash with a craft knife so naturally this was extremely difficult. I got there in the end but it's safe to say that this wasn't the highlight of my experience. The image below is my complete print, in the end I made 5. Two were green and black and the others purple and black, I'm extremely proud of them!

Heres my final print!

It's upside down... Blogger won't let me change that so I guess thats that. Please give me feedback in the comments and if you don't know what Matariki is make sure to reasearch it, it's really interesting! Thank you and see you next time!

Super STEAM!

Kia ora Bloggers! How are you? On Wednesdays, we are looking at STEAM which stands for science, technology, engineering, art, and math. We had to complete an egg drop, my group absolutely failed. In fact, we broke the egg before we got it in the drop thing. But we got another egg and we still failed, it was fun though so that's fine.

This slide has all the information that we needed to learn about the egg drop. Has this taught you anything? Please leave me feedback in the comments! Have a great day.

Awesome Aladdin

Kia ora Bloggers! What have you been up to? Recently in school, I signed up for the production. This year we are performing Aladdin so I've been pretty busy with that. We have a slide of activities that we are expected to complete, so far I have completed a pixel art portrait of our favorite Aladdin character. I don't actually have a favorite character so I just did Aladdin. In all honesty, I am pretty terrible at pixel art but it was fun to do anyway.

So. It's not great but I enjoyed making it seeing as pixel art is definitely not something I would normally use or even consider using. Who's your favorite Aladdin character? See you next time!

Hundertwasser Art

Hey Bloggers! How were your Easter holidays? Did you do anything interesting? During Wednesday afternoons we have been looking at an artist named Friedensreich Hundertwasser who lived in NZ for a large portion of his lifespan. He designed multiple different buildings and his paintings were often inspired by children's dreams. They were made to try and make people happy because  "People don't need more problems"  His painting usually contained little to no straight lines and lots of colors.

We had to create an art piece inspired by his art style and this one is mine.

As you can see there are not many straight lines if any at all and the whole thing is extremely colourful, we were meant to use complementary colours and things like that but in all honesty I just kind of went for it. Still, I think it turned out ok. Make sure to google Friedensreich Hundertwasser and find out more about him! Do you know your complementary colours?

Super Safety comic

Hey Bloggers! What have you been up to?
As you know, on Wednesday afternoons we've been looking at safety while at home and in general. This week we took a look at emotional safety and how we can look after one another. This could be anything from people calling your friends names or leaving others behind, we found that this sort of thing is really important and it can be just as important as physical safety.

This week the teachers showed us a small comic strip that demonstrated an instance where other's emotional saftey could be at risk. We had to fill in a blank panel at the end showing what WE would do in that situation.

Here's my comic:

Ok so the quality is terrible so I'll tell you what's happening. In the first panel, we see a school disco and a group of friends. In the next, we can see that two more girls have come to join them and they have started to leave the girl in red out. In the final panel, the girl with the ponytail is turning back to invite her.

What do you think? Have you ever been in a situation like this? Tell me if you have been and tell me what you did! Have a great rest of your day.

Helpful Home Safety

Hey Bloggers! How are you? What have you been up to? In the afternoons after tech classes, we've been looking at home safety and how to make sure you know what the best options are. We got given a scenario where we were home alone and someone came up the drive, we then had to decide the best way to react to this. Next, we put this onto a poster along with some other options that maybe weren't the best idea. Here's how my poster turned out.

How does that look? I'm pretty happy with how it all turned out, Canva (which is the site I used) gave him a bit of grief with the colour palette but I got there in the end. Did this teach you anything? Do you enjoy staying home alone? Have a great day!

Lots of Lego

Hi Bloggers! Last post for today cause I forgot that we were meant to include this in the last post and I can't edit my old posts for whatever reason. Each year we have to create a self-portrait and this year it was a lego figurine of yourself. If I'm being honest mines kinda off but I think it still turned out ok. The braces were extremely last minute because I forgot I had them but the facial expression is very accurate, I'm tired 24/7.

The green hoodie was based on a mickey mouse one I own, the hair a bit dark but overall I think I did ok.
Do you own any lego? That's all for today.

Kia ora Bloggers! Second post of the day! This doesn't happen too often huh? This is a really fun task I got given, we had to make a short video about ourselves and what we enjoy, it took me a while to think of these because reading is my one defining trait but no one wants to hear about what I read and my favourite characters deaths. In the end, I think I got enough. Enjoy learning more than you ever wanted to know about me.

I think the formatting might have turned out really weird, I hope you didn't have too much trouble viewing. What's a random fact about you? Do you have any hobbies?  See you next time.

Perfect Pepeha!

Hey Bloggers! I feel like I used this title last year... I think I did. Anywho, this year for our pepeha we had to create an Adobe spark short.

Firstly, of course, we had to write out our pepeha then learn how to pronounce everything which we sorta difficult considering speaking isn't a specialty of mine in general but your pepeha is definitely something that's pretty useful to know and I got there in the end.

Getting photos was another thing that was quite entertaining, apparently, I have little to no photos of myself and as you will see in a minute I wasn't very successful in finding new ones. I've been rambling for a while now so here's my pepeha:

I hope you enjoyed it, if you didn't have your sound on I would really appreciate it if you could go back and rewatch it with sound! How many people are a part of your family? Did I make any mistakes? Make sure to comment and let me know!

Cool campfire

Kia ora Bloggers! How are you all?! I had a fantastic holiday and I got to spend a lot of time with my family and friends, putting all this into consideration it's also really good to back and on my blog. This year I'm a student leader so it'll be interesting to see how this affects the year and I cant wait to see how everything pans out!

Back to the topic of the post, my class and I have been on camp for the last week at Wainui camp, it gave us the chance to try out so many new and fun experiences plus I meet some really cool new people! My absolute favorite part of it was the campfire at the very end of the second night, I'll give you the chance to read more about it in the slide, the whole point of this task was to draw it so my drawing should be on the second slide. (Please make sure to let me know if it's not there)

That's it for today! I really hope that I'll be able to blog a bit more this year! Have you ever been to a campfire? If so what was your favorite song or game that you played? Have a brilliant day.
~Zoe.
